From Salvador cross by ferryboat from Sao Joaquim to Bom Despacho. Buses to Valenca meet the ferry passengers and the journey takes about two hours.

From the Bus Station (Rodoviário) take a taxi to the port from where  there are speedboats direct to Boipeba taking about 1 hour to reach the island.

Tickets for the speedboats can be bought at the port but to reserve a place in advance (advisable in December and January) contact the operator at garça.branca@hotmail.com  

From Monday to Saturday at 12.30pm a slow boat leaves from Valenca to Boipeba taking approximately 4 hours through delightful scenery and at 6am, 11am and 2pm, the "Boipeba Express" leaves Valenca for Torrinhas, with a connection by boat to Boipeba. The complete journey takes about 3 hours - half by road and half by boat.

Moreré can then be reached on foot (1hour), or by tractor or boat from Velha Boipeba.

There is also an Air Taxi direct from Salvador airport to a private landing strip just across the river from Boipeba. Transfer from the landing strip to Boipeba is included in the flight package.
